Mother's Day Card

Hey Everyone - welcome to another reveal at Southern Girls Challenge. We were asked this time to create something with a little sparkle or shine.  I choose to create a sparkly Mother's Day card for my sister-in-law.  I know it's really early, but I don't usually use sparkle having a boy so I thought this was the perfect chance to make a card for a lady.

The paper is from My Mind's Eye called Indie Chic Nutmeg.  I used this paper to do a layout you'll be seeing in the near future and wanted to use the scraps for something as well.  The wave is cut with my Kiwi Lane templates.  Since the patterned papers were busy on their own I kept my embellishments rather simple.  The glitter washi tape is from Recollections if I remember correctly, and the bling is from Queen and Co.

So will you be joining us for the sparkle and shine challenge?  Do you mainly create one gender projects and struggle with the other?  Inquiring minds want to know!  Until next time...Keep Scrapping!

Guy Stuff Layout

Welcome to my second reveal for Lasting Memories. This go-round we were challenged to create a layout about a Life Lesson.
I pulled out my Carta Bella Boy Oh Boy goodies and the sketch from ScrapMuch? to get started.  I stuck really close to the sketch except for changing to use three photos instead of two.  I didn't have the correct red paper to mat my photos, but I had the perfect red washi tape.  I cut mats the size I needed and covered the edges with the tape...worked perfectly!
The life lesson that I choose to highlight was our son learning some "Guy Stuff."  My hubby had his tools out to do something around the house right around when our son turned one.  M went right over to the tools and started digging in the box and turning the handles...no one had to tell him it way guy stuff!
Sorry I've been so quiet lately, but we've been going through a kitchen re-do and the house looks like a bomb went off!  Leave me a comment if you want to see the new kitchen, and until next time...Keep Scrappin!

Lasting Memories Blog Hop

Hello and welcome to our very first challenge for 2015 at Lasting Memories! We're celebrating the new year and new Design Team with a blog hop. Super fun right?! If you're just starting the hop, be sure to start at Lasting Memories so you don't miss anyone - if you're last stop was Suzanne then you're on the right track!

Our challenge theme this entire month is "Life's Moments" and our first challenge is "Life's Simple Pleasures" .. we want to know what one of your simple pleasure's in life is. Chocolate? Coffee? Adorable children, pets or grandchildren?? SO many things to consider and we're excited to see what you create! What's my Simple Pleasure??? Here, let me show you!

One of my favorite Simple Pleasures is seeing our son interact with my sister.  They are the best of friends and no matter how crabby he is anything he does with her is golden.  In this particular case they were making chili while hubby and I snuck away to a movie.
I started this layout with the sketch from My Creative Sketches.  I liked how linear the sketch was, but still left room for interpretation.  Except for the Studio Calico wood stars and the title all items on the layout are from the Bella Blvd Max collection.  You can't tell in the photo, but I also used a Tim Holtz stencil and put white modeling paste through it.  In person it adds a very subtle touch to the page.
I can't wait to inspire you more with the Lasting Memories challenges!

Your next stop is Bea and when you're all done visiting the new Design Team, we really hope you'll have time to join the fun! All our challenges run for the entire month, so you have time to play! Thanks for stopping by today!
